My Monster My Monster

There is a monster.

It lives in my head.

It tells me things I don't like.

It breaks my self esteem and makes me feel bad.

It tells me what a terrible a person I am and how it's a wonder anyone would like me.

It tells me that no one would like me if they really knew me.

I let the monster get to me. I try to fight it but I tend to believe what it says.

I've lived with the monster for so long, it seems a part of me now.

But does it really want to hurt me?

Or does it want me to fight back and stand up for myself?

I need to learn how to stand up for myself.

Maybe my monster is just trying to teach me a lesson.
